Had planned to go to this exhibit, Infinite Variety: 3 Centuries of Red and White Quilts, a few sundays ago, but was stayed in my apartment after watching the disappointing KU's basketball game earlier that day. So it was nice when a few days later my boss took all of us to see the show at the Park Avenue Armory.

I know this is a terrible cell phone picture, but even all blurry, it still shows how amazing the show was.

Things I'm currently working on: finishing a crochet blanket, starting a quilt (which is all being pieced and quilted by hand since I have no access to a sewing machine).

This show has inspired me to work on another quilt, red and white of course. And hopefully some weaving will be in my future, and I will be inspired to post more!

Its been months

New York is busy. My first market week has come and gone. It was nice to see samples of some items I have had a chance to design (sheets for youth).

No weaving, no loom to weave on. Will potentially buy a small tapestry loom to work on. I miss it.

Also, Please Visit a dear friends new Etsy. I have modeled for some paintings, and I'm always impressed with what he is able to create.

And it begins

Loom is folded up in the loft.

I move tomorrow. I will be missing my loom alot.

I need to edit some pictures from the senior show, when that happens I will finally post pictures of what i have been working on all semester.

I'm weaving, I promise! I have two more weeks of classes, then finals week.

I have one more garment that I have to set up the loom for and weave, I'm in the process of winding the warp, but since I hate that part, its taken me 3 days.

So I have two garments mostly finished, I need to block them so the necklines fall better. The exhibition reception is Saturday May 15th, and everything will have to be done by the Thursday prior to that so we can set up the gallery.

Working on cad as well, for my final project in my independent study I am doing simple goauche paintings 4 inches square, scanning them in and editing in photoshop and illustrator to create simple repeat patterns. I hope to have 50 of them by the end of the semester. That, my garment, and one last paper (and final) all need to be acomplished in the next three weeks.

Along with packing... eeeeeek

In NYC

Guess where I am moving in a month and a half?!

That's right, I found a job. I will probably be without my loom for a little while, while I am looking for a permanent place to live.

Of course, that just means I will have to weave a ton before I leave. Which is good, because I have my senior studio projects to finish.

Not Weaving

Been working on the computer as much as possible. Weaving has been giving me some trouble, first I had to wait for my yarn to come in the mail. I set up a warp over spring break (it took so long because I was kinda unmotivated), started weaving yesterday, only to realize my warp was about a yard short. I don't know how I did that, I always measure twice, but oh well, just modified this garment, and I will do the original after I finish off this warp. Same threading, so it will be easy to tie on.

Its difficult to take pictures of my work right now because everything is white and black double weave, so these pieces wont look like anything until I actually get them finished and on the dress for.

Back to the computer though. Have to redo my portfolio, been putting it off since my last portfolio review, working on the website portfolio (michellewrong.com) because I figure it might help me get interviews.

And guess what! It has! I've got an interview next week... I'm super excited. That's why I have to redo my portfolio, so its perfect and I will get an awesome job.

So the plan for tonight, weave for the next 2 hours, maybe finish off this warp? Then Lost viewing party/2 hour break, then homework party with some friends into the wee hours of the morning!
